Lisette Model
7 – 22 november

In 1975, Lisette Model (1901-1983), born Élise Amélie Félicie Stern, met Gerhard Sander, August Sander’s grandson, who helped in the creation of a portfolio of twelve photographs produced by Harry H. Lunn, Jr. : « Lisette Model, 12 Photographs ». For the first time in France, the Galerie Marcilhac presents this portfolio in its entirety. The twelve gelatin silver prints, printed by Sander under the supervision of the artist, then signed and limited to 75 copies, include the most emblematic images by this iconoclastic artist : from her portraits taken on the French Riviera in 1930, in speakeasys, or among New York’s fashion world, to the « Reflections » series. The famous portrait of an opulent bather (Coney Island Bather) – her first commission for Harper’s Bazaar, then headed by Alexey Brodovitch – and which graced the cover of her monograph published by Aperture in 1979, will also be on display.
